Soft Solid luminaire_D by DAYDREAMING OBJECTS
Soft Solids is a collection of sculptural light objects handcrafted from the studio’s specially developed blend of natural waxes, exploring the interplay of light, organic forms and materiality.
Luminaire D combines an upcycled vintage base with a specially designed, handcrafted natural wax shade.
As part of our Soft Solids collection, we source vintage luminaires that have lost their original shades, giving them new life through uniquely crafted wax forms. Each shade is designed to complement the character of its vintage base, using our own developed blend of natural waxes.
The fusion of newly crafted organic forms with existing metal and glass elements creates a dialogue between past and present, preserving the history of each object while introducing a contemporary identity.
Each luminaire is created through a combination of traditional craftsmanship, digital 3D modelling and upcycling techniques.
Daydreaming Objects is a Copenhagen-based art and design studio founded by lighting designer Ruta Palionytė and architect Ieva Baranauskaitė. Combining their diverse skills, the duo crafts light objects that go beyond mere function, telling stories and infusing everyday spaces with a sense of dreaminess. Their practice is rooted in curiosity and material exploration, resulting in sculptural lighting that reimagines how materials can be reborn through light.
Materials: Handcrafted natural wax shade, Bohemian crystal, brass, steel holders, LED light source.
Origin of the vintage base: Former Czechoslovakia, 1960s–1970s.
Dimensions: 60 × 26 × 15 cm.
Weight: 8 kg.
2 unique pieces. Available individually or as a pair.
