CUPS
A celebratory exhibition during 3daysofdesign at Café Sommersko
During this year’s 3daysofdesign, TABLEAU and Sovino Group present CUPS - a curated exhibition and sales project celebrating the intimate ritual of coffee, craftsmanship, and collectibility through contemporary art and design.
Installed outside Café Sommersko in Copenhagen, the project transforms a custom-built coffee truck into a living exhibition space, where visitors are invited to experience and purchase unique artist-designed coffee cups created specifically for the occasion.
opening hours: Monday, june 8th – Friday, june 12th
09:00–24:00
Address: cafe sommersko, palægade 6, 1260 københavn k
The exhibition is co-curated by Julius Værnes Iversen and Liv Vaisberg and marks the 50th anniversary of Sommersko, a cultural institution that has long stood at the intersection of hospitality, art, fashion, and design. Since the 1980s, Sommersko has continuously collaborated with pioneering artists, designers, and creative voices, serving as an important platform for artistic exchange in Copenhagen.
With CUPS, this legacy continues through a contemporary exploration of one of the most universal and emotional everyday objects: the coffee cup.
A selected group of artists and designers have each been invited to create an edition unique cups. During the festival, every cup will be activated through a performative gesture: upon purchase, guests will receive a coffee served in the artist’s cup at Café Sommersko before the work is carefully wrapped and handed over to its new owner.
By merging functionality, ritual, and artistic expression, CUPS transforms an everyday café experience into a collectible and deeply personal encounter.
CUPS celebrates not only the object, but also the social rituals and cultural spaces that surround it — conversations over coffee, fleeting encounters, shared moments, and the artistic communities that continue to shape Copenhagen.
